WOULD RATHER

"Would rather" es una estructura en inglés que se usa para expresar preferencias. Se puede traducir como "preferiría" o "me gustaría más".

1. Estructura básica

Sujeto + would rather + verbo en infinitivo sin 'to'

I would rather stay at home.

(Preferiría quedarme en casa.)

She would rather go to the beach.

(Ella preferiría ir a la playa.)

También se puede usar la contracción 'd:

I'd rather stay at home.

2. Para comparar dos acciones con diferentes sujetos

Usamos "would rather + sujeto + pasado simple" (aunque se refiere al presente o futuro, no al pasado real).

I’d rather you stayed home.

(Preferiría que tú te quedaras en casa.)

He’d rather we didn’t go.

(Él preferiría que no fuéramos.)

3. Negaciones

I’d rather not go to the party.

(Preferiría no ir a la fiesta.)
