TEST PRESENT SIMPLE vs PAST SIMPLE: ¿PUEDES ACERTAR LAS 10? 

Hi everyone! Hola a todos. My name is Mr. Pea y juntos vamos a aprender a hablar en inglés. Hoy vamos a practicar la diferencia entre el present simple y el past simple. Con un ejercicio ¿Estáis preparadas y preparados? Here we go!

👉 Completa cada frase con la forma correcta de los verbos en present simple o past simple.

1. I usually ______ (walk) to school, but yesterday I ______ (take) the bus.
   ✅ I usually walk to school, but yesterday I took the bus.
   Cuando usamos “usually”, el verbo estará en presente simple.  “yesterday” nos dice que el segundo verbo debe conjugarse en pasado

2. She ______ (not / like) coffee, but she ______ (try) it last week.
   ✅ She does not like coffee, but she tried it last week.
   El primer verbo nos habla sobre gustos presentes, mientras que la segunda nos habla de una acción en pasado.

3. We ______ (go) to the gym every Monday, but last Monday we ______ (stay) at home.
   ✅ We go to the gym every Monday, but last Monday we stayed at home.
   La primera parte nos habla de una rutina y por tanto debe de ir en present simple, la segunda parte habla de una acción que ocurrió y finalizó en el pasado.

4. My brother ______ (work) in a bank, but now he ______ (work) in a hospital.
   ✅ My brother worked in a bank, but now he works in a hospital.
   La primera parte de la oración habla de una situación pasada y la segunda habla de la situación actual.

5. They ______ (watch) TV every evening, but yesterday they ______ (not / watch) anything.
   ✅ They watch TV every evening, but yesterday they did not watch anything.
   La primera parte habla de lo que suelen hacer habitualmente por eso está en presente, la segunda parte habla de lo que no hicieron en el pasado

6. I ______ (study) English at school, and I ______ (study) for two hours last night.
   ✅ I study English at school, and I studied for two hours last night.
   La primera parte habla de una situación vigente en el presente y la segunda parte de algo que sucedió en el pasado.

7. He ______ (live) in Madrid, but now he ______ (live) in London.
   ✅ He lived in Madrid, but now he lives in London.
   La primera parte habla de una situación en pasado mientras que la segunda habla de su situación actual.

8. She ______ (go) to the movies last Friday, but she normally ______ (go) every Friday.

   ✅ She went to the movies last Friday, but  she normally goes every Friday.
   La primera parte habla de algo que sucedió en el pasado y la segunda habla de una rutina diaria presente.

9. The shop ______ (open) at 9 a.m. every day, and it ______ (close) at 6 p.m. 
   ✅ The shop opens at 9 a.m. every day, and it closes at 6 p.m. 
   Las dos hablan de rutinas diaras.

10. She ______ (not / understand) the lesson yesterday, but she ______ (understand) it later after the teacher explained it again.
    ✅ She didn't understand the lesson yesterday, but she understood it later after the teacher explained it again.
    En la frase se habla de dos hechos que sucedieron en el pasado.
