ADJETIVOS SUPERLATIVOS - Completa las oraciones con la opción correcta

Hi everyone! Hola a todos. My name is Mr. Pea y juntos vamos a aprender a hablar en inglés. Hoy nos enfocamos en el grado máximo de los adjetivos: ¡los superlativos!

Recordad que usamos el superlativo cuando queremos destacar una opción entre todo un grupo (buscad siempre la palabra clave the o expresiones como in the world u of all). ¡Y prestad mucha atención a la longitud del adjetivo y a las excepciones irregulares!

👉 Completa cada frase eligiendo la opción correcta entre paréntesis para dar sentido a la oración:

1. Jupiter is ______ (the biggest / the most big) planet in our solar system. ✅ Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. 👉 Big es un adjetivo corto con estructura Consonante-Vocal-Consonante (CVC). Al hacer el superlativo, doblamos la última consonante y añadimos -est precedido de the. La opción correcta es the biggest.

2. This is ______ (the most interesting / the interestings) book I 've ever read. ✅ This is the most interesting book I 've ever read. 👉 Interesting es un adjetivo largo (4 sílabas). Para formar su superlativo, colocamos la estructura the most delante del adjetivo sin modificar su final. Elegimos the most interesting.

3. Yesterday was ______ (the coldest / the colder) day of the winter. ✅ Yesterday was the coldest day of the winter. 👉 Estamos comparando el día de ayer con todos los días del invierno (superlativo). Como cold es un adjetivo corto de una sola sílaba, le añadimos la terminación -est. La respuesta correcta es the coldest.

4. She is ______ (the best / the goodest) singer in the school choir. ✅ She is the best singer in the school choir. 👉 ¡Cuidado con los irregulares! El adjetivo good no forma el superlativo como "goodest". Su forma superlativa única e irregular es the best.

5. What is ______ (the most dangerous / the dangerousest) animal in the world? ✅ What is the most dangerous animal in the world? 👉 Dangerous es un adjetivo largo de tres sílabas. La regla nos indica que debemos usar the most delante. Marcamos the most dangerous.

6. That was ______ (the worst / the baddest) joke I have ever heard! ✅ That was the worst joke I have ever heard! 👉 Al igual que good, el adjetivo bad es totalmente irregular. Para expresar "el peor", nunca diremos "baddest", sino the worst.

7. My grandmother is ______ (the oldest / the most old) person in our family. ✅ My grandmother is the oldest person in our family. 👉 Old es un adjetivo corto. Para indicar que es la persona de mayor edad en toda la familia, simplemente añadimos -est al adjetivo. Elegimos the oldest.

8. It was ______ (the happiest / the happyest) moment of my life. ✅ It was the happiest moment of my life. 👉 En adjetivos de dos sílabas que terminan en consonante + y (happy), la regla exige cambiar la y por una i latina antes de añadir -est. La ortografía correcta es the happiest.

9. This store sells ______ (the most expensive / the expensivest) clothes in the city. ✅ This store sells the most expensive clothes in the city. 👉 Expensive es un adjetivo largo. Nunca añadimos -est a adjetivos de tres o más sílabas. Por tanto, la opción correcta es the most expensive.

10. Who is ______ (the fastest / the most fast) runner on the team? ✅ Who is the fastest runner on the team? 👉 Fast es un adjetivo corto. Para preguntar quién es el más rápido de todo el equipo, usamos la forma corta con -est. La opción correcta es the fastest.
