THERE WAS y THERE WERE

Hi everyone! Hola a todos. My name is Mr Pea y juntos vamos a aprender a hablar en inglés. Hoy vamos a hablar sobre "there was" y "there were". Estos son estructuras que utilizaremos para describir algo que existía en el pasado.

Por ejemplo, si queremos decir que había un libro aquí, podemos decir

"There was a book here.".

Si queremos decir que había dos libros aquí, podemos decir

"There were two books here."

Si queremos construir la frase en negativo, se puede utilizar "there was not" o "there wasn't" para "there was" y "there were not" o "there weren't" para "there were". Por ejemplo, si queremos decir que no había una manzana aquí, podemos decir

"There wasn't an apple here.".

Si queremos decir que no había dos manzanas aquí, podemos decir

"There weren't two apples here."

En interrogativo, podemos utilizar "was there?" y "were there?". Por ejemplo, si queremos preguntar si había un libro aquí, podemos decir

"Was there a book here?".

Si queremos preguntar si había dos libros aquí, podemos decir

"Were there two books here?"

Respuesta: B) Was there a dog in the park?

Había cuatro gatos en la casa.

A) There where four cats in the house.

B) There was four cats in the house.

C) There were four cats in the house.

Respuesta: C) There were four cats in the house.

No había nadie en la sala.

A) There wasn't anyone in the room.

B) There weren't anyone in the room.

C) There wheren't anyone in the room.

Respuesta: A) There wasn't anyone in the room.
